Macron urges for speeding up AI adoption across France, Europe
He pointed to France’s expanding pool of talent, its energetic start-up scene, and its low-carbon power production driven by nuclear energy as major strengths. Citing companies like Mistral AI, Doctolib, and Alan, Macron described the country’s AI landscape as “extraordinarily vibrant.”
On the industrial side, he announced the creation of a fifth priority site for AI development in Dunkirk, which will provide more than 700 megawatts of capacity and join 23 existing designated sites. Macron also confirmed the imminent rollout of France’s exascale supercomputer, “Alice Recoque,” which he said will give Europe a tool capable of competing with leading global tech powers.
According to Macron, the next essential step is ensuring that AI becomes broadly integrated into both the economy and public administration. By 2030, he said, every major company and most small and medium-sized enterprises should be using AI in practical, everyday ways. To facilitate this shift, the government plans to send 300 AI ambassadors into the field to support businesses and to train 50,000 public-sector employees by 2026.
Macron also urged the EU to adopt a more unified strategy, one focused on simplifying regulations, significantly increasing investment, and better protecting the European market from dominant American and Chinese tech companies.
